Fiona Broome BSc DCLP
Visual stress and Colorimetry
Contact lens fitting and aftercare
Fiona studied in The City University, London, and took her professional examination in 1984. She then worked in a specialist contact lens practice and passed her Diploma in Contact Lens Practice in 1986.
She has always worked in independent practice, for many years as a director of a small group.
She enjoys the variety of general practice. This includes eye examinations, contact lens fitting and, increasingly Colorimetry. This is the use of coloured overlays and/or precision tinted lenses to relieve visual stress that in some people causes words to jump and move, making it difficult to read text without this help.
She has just returned from a voluntary eye camp in Uganda in January 2017. The aim was to see people in rural areas with no access to eye care but only basic health care provision.
Outside of work, she is kept busy with two teenage daughters. She is also a keen cyclist with plans to cycle from Land's End to John O'Goats at the end of 2017.
